Canada Student loan. 1999-Oct 2007. RIP
Yes, my student loan will finally be paid off in October. I've been carrying that baby around for a loooooong time now, and will miss it when it's gone. Not.

Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything. I don't really have anything to post now either. For those of you without school age kids (but especially those of you with school age kids but who haven't heard about it), it's Summer Reading time at the library, and that means busy. If you read Mrs. Yes's post, you'll see the sort of thing we've been up to at the library lately. Apart from the carnival, we had a Teddy Bear's Picnic the week before, and have registered a few hundred kids for summer reading. Including my very own Boy, who has chosen 20 books as his goal for House Man and he to read together this summer.
We went to visit Mrs Happy at the yarn store last week (or was it two weeks ago?). When we walked in, The Boy found Mrs. Happy and immediately asked if Henry was around. He then proceeded to help customers make colour selections (I think the customer was happy with The Boy's colour choices!). When he asked me which basket Grace had played with (scroll down about halfway), I should have known what was coming. We had an instant replay of the whole yarn-on-floor-basket-on-head thing that Grace has perfected. Sadly, no camera with me. I need to learn to travel with my camera!
Anyway, there hasn't been much knitting going on around here, to be honest. Sore back (gone now), sick boy (seems better now) and lots of evening shifts for the House Man (with more coming next week!) have all conspired to create very little knitting time. And I've been Boy-wrangling all weekend, while House Man was here, racing a borrowed one of these. He's not back yet, so we're waiting to find out how it went.
I now have a $23 US credit sitting at elann.com. Any suggestions for how to spend it?

Update: Elann will post a credit to my account with them, which I can then spend at my leisure. So far, their customer service has been prompt and pleasant. And in Canada, which counts in their favour as well.
I-cord. About a foot or so. 5 minutes. Ignore the hot pink acrylic, that's the "practice yarn" that came with the machine. I received a gift certificate from elann.com for my birthday. This little gadget is the Bond Embellish Knit, and after I spent 10 minutes cursing at the instructions, I finally figured it out and cranked out this i-cord in about 5 minutes. Sadly, it doesn't take worsted, only up to about DK, based on this practice yarn. But what a timesaver! I also ordered this to complete my Walker Treasury collection.
Fiona, thank you, thank you, thank you! This little gadget is tons of fun!

Why, you ask, are those pictures so terrible? That was the result of cotton candy. They lost their ability to stand still for photos. And they seemed to be operating on fast forward! Lesley and Phil, sorry about that, but the walk back to the car after the show was entertaining to say the least! Those are the good pictures, here's a sample of the rest:
