What I'm knitting:

What I'm reading:

What I'm wearing:

Obviously that's not me in the photo. I'm not that tall, that skinny, or that pregnant (yet). But I hadn't realised how much maternity clothes have changed in the 5 years since I had The Boy. And these are so much more comfortable than the maternity clothes I had 5 and a half years ago!

Yes, I have officially hit the second trimester, which means that my superstitious side will let me knit baby things. The baby sweater is made with 2 skeins of Debbie Bliss baby cashmerino. It's very nice to work with, and the resulting baby cardigan is extremely soft to the touch.

The book is by Sheila Kitzinger. I would like to recommend the Kitzinger book to those of you who have yet to have kids. Seriously, get this book instead of That Other Book that will scare the pants off you! It's a much more reasonable account, offering both sides of the birth argument (ie natural vs medicalized). For the crunchy amongst you, I'm also reading this book. If you think you'd be the sort to have a homebirth or have a midwife to attend you instead of an obstetrician, then try this book, it's the one.

Congrats! I agree about the maternity clothes... they have definitely changed a lot-- there are more options now! Are those the belly panel jeans? I was looking at some of those on Ann Taylor Loft's site and they seem SO comfy!

They are. You can wear the panel folded down early on, or folded down twice if you want it under the belly, and then all the way up later, if you want. Very comfy. They also have under the belly panels. I got a pair of those too, but the jury is still out on whether I like them or not!

Cool! Yeah when I was looking on AT Loft, they had 3 different kinds-- demi panel, roll panel and adjustable waist. The roll panel seems the most comfy to me since you can wear it so many ways, like you said.

I think I may write a follow-up to "What to expect when you're expecting", or possibly a follow up to the next volume, "What to expect in the first year" but from the other side of parenthood. It would be a one-page list:

1) fear
2) fatigue
3) self doubt
4) matrimonial conflict
5) did I mention fatigue?
6) humility
7) edginess
8) caffeine dependence
9) guilt

etc, etc...

I have a knitting question for you - you're the closest expert I can find ;) - what's a wrap stitch used when decreasing?

Saw you in passing a couple of weeks ago at the library - my children were behaving badly! Thank goodness for the Mole Sisters books, they love my "British" Accent, LOL.

Hope the pregnancy is going well!
