Life sucks

My DH got laid off yesterday. Well, I don't know if laid off is the right term, maybe dismissed or fired? He and a number of his coworkers were let go, no notice at all, nobody saw it coming, escorted from the building, pay in lieu of notice etc etc etc. Cause the company wasn't meeting its sales predictions. These are people who had been loyal to that place for 8 years, and what do they get? "Thanks a bunch suckers, you've got ten minutes to clear your personal belongings out of here, have a nice life". Life completely sucks, it's like we just can't get ahead. And just when things were starting to go well too, what with his student loan nearly paid off (we won't talk about my student loan though), his new hobby (the race car!), two jobs where we both worked the same hours and had weekends to spend together.

So I guess I'm knitting from the stash for a while.

Heck, my stash sucks too. Life sucks.

It'll be alright. You are both good people. Karma knows this and has great things coming your way. Hugs!

Oh no! That's awful. Things will sort themselves out though, I'm sure. Look at it as freed up to pursue a new direction.
And IMO if his leaving papers don't say he was let go for a shortage of work then I'd be taking it to the labour board.

It says that the decision to terminate is the result of a company wide restructuring. That's what it says for all of them. There wasn't really a shortage of work, they just decided to cut back on R&D.

Ah, only a knitter would offer malabrigo and know that wool is therapy! But honestly, my stash is not as bad as I think it is, I still have three colours of ghetto malabrigo to work with! So while your kindness is appreciated, I don't want to take your yarn from you under false pretences! Now, if he's still unemployed in 6 months and I'm getting low, then I might take you up on it!

God. That is so cruel. I hope things get better soon.

That's rotten news Alison. I'm sure things will work out ok. Things like this tend to result in better things to come.
